DoNorth has a unique relationship with the North Country Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber’s tourism department, the Adirondack Coast, provides DoNorth with most of its funding. In return, we attract visitors. So DoNorthers work hand in hand with the bureau to keep up with everything North Country.
DoNorth is PenAir‘s official in-flight magazine. An issue sits behind every seat, giving those flying something interesting to read. DoNorth even features ADK IQ, a page toward the end of every issue dedicated to a puzzle, sudoku and a maze — all created by students. So every PenAir customer has a chance to read DoNorth.
All Points North is DoNorth’s sister publication. Both publications share an office together and bounce ideas off each other. APN also covers the North Country, but its focus isn’t tourism. It focuses on bringing to light the little stories hidden throughout the area. It is online only and created entirely by Plattsburgh State students.
DoNorth was created through Plattsburgh State’s Journalism Department. Thanks to the incredible faculty, the students are able to generate story ideas and create a print magazine, as well as create Web content. The magazine’s adviser, James “Luke” Cyphers, created this model and thought of starting DoNorth. He’s provided the students with real-world magazine industry knowledge that’s put forth with every issue of DoNorth Magazine.
